Items that belong in waste requiring special treatment include, for example:
- animal waste
- pets, horses
- wild and farmed game
- reindeer, alpacas, llamas
- clean rainwater gully sand
- bottom ash
- fly ash
The landfill acceptability of special waste must be determined before acceptance (does not apply to animal waste).
